The 2nd South Asian Conference on
Sanitation (SACOSAN-2006) being held
in Islamabad, Pakistan from 15-17 May,
2006. The SACOSAN-2006 basically aims
to focus on the role of the Government,
Communities and the Private Sector in
water and sanitation issues in the South
Asian Region. Then conference will discuss
sanitation related Millennium Development
Goals (MDG) - Their Potential and Implications,
the convention will also focus on the
technological options for formulating
a joint sanitation policy.
Participants from all over South Asia
including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan,
India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan
and Sri Lanka will be participating
in this event overall goal of the Conference
is to accelerate the progress of sanitation
and hygiene work in the South Asia so
as to enhance its peoples' quality of
life in fulfillment of the Millennium
Development Goals and the commitments
made in the World Summit on Sustainable
Development.
