Water Action Contest --- Grand Prize - $50,000 ---
Win a trip to Japan, earn the grand prize of $50,000 and demonstrate
your valuable water project to water experts from around the world.
The 3rd World Water Forum will meet in Kyoto, Shiga and Osaka Japan
from March 16-23, 2003. The Forum is sponsoring the Water Action
Contest in order to highlight positive, innovative and replicable
water projects.
The top 100 finalists in this contest will be invited to make presentations
of their projects during the Forum, with all expense paid. Water
experts will select the best project, which will be awarded the
grand prize of $50,000.
All organizations that work on the grassroots level are invited
to enter this contest, including, but not restricted to, non-governmental
organizations (NGOs), community groups, universities, private sector
companies, local governments and more.
The entries can include the actual implementation of projects,
awareness-raising campaigns and promotion of community and individual
participation on water related issues such as water supply and sanitation,
water-related diseases, irrigation, drainage, dams, river and lake
basins, wetlands, groundwater, poverty, gender and capacity building.

The Forum is seeking successful projects that exhibit originality
and have impact, feature stakeholder participation and are sustainable.
